The Warmth of Home

The Family Welcomes our Winter Guests

Our home is located in the Town of Hunter New York and is walking distance to the picturesque village of Tannersville, "the painted village in the sky".

Our unique gem, surrounded by mesmerizing views and clean fresh mountaintop air, is situated on a historic path, a pristine Scenic Byway in the heart of Catskill Park.  The location is ideal for skiers, winter sports, and anyone desiring to experience the beauty of the Great Northern Catskill Mountains of the Upper Hudson Valley. National Geographic Traveler had named our region "One Of The Top 20 World-Class Best Travel Vacation Destinations In The World".

Our Story~

For 52 years The Villa Vosilla, an Intimate Italian Boutique Resort, has celebrated the music, cuisine and song of Italy, promoting its culture throughout the "Taste of Italy in the Catskills" Social Season. The resort has become known as the last of the authentic Italian resorts of its style, and initially only operated as a summer resort during the months of July and August.

The family members then decided to winterize and cater to skiers.  They planned their departure from the city and made a permanent move to the Mountaintop.  Renovations began...and a new Theme Season "Ski * Ride * Play * Escape" was created ~ the "Winter Season" at the Villa.

Nonno John Vosilla Sr. was the first family member to come to this country.  He worked tirelessly, saved money to purchase a home and brought over his wife "Nonna" Katina and family.  Through all their years, they always welcomed European immigrant families to live in their home until these immigrants were able to support themselves.  Nonno and Nonna were a very special couple, whose door was always open and always available to help everyone.

Skilled in restaurants and kitchens in New York City, John Vosilla Sr. and John Vosilla Jr. fell in love with the Upper Catskills, which was reminiscent of the mountains in Europe. Searching for an opportunity to own a hospitality business in upstate New York, the property formerly known as The Rose Garden was purchased.

In May of 1964, with the expertise of Executive Chef John Vosilla Sr. and his wife Katina, the European tradition of serving guests as family began.  The Villa Vosilla soon became known as a dining destination, as guests would travel from NYC on a hot summer's day for Sunday Pasta.  In addition to an irresistible array of innovative dishes, guests continue to enjoy our family recipes that have been handed down from generations at Ladoria Ristorante.

The Villa Vosilla is not a commercial business.  Our property has a unique personality and design philosophy with an eclectic balance of old world, vintage and contemporary elements. A plethora of period pieces to suit our diversified seasonal clientele.  The resort continues to rejuvenate and redesign while retaining the Italian charm which transports you to a comforting place of relaxation and fun reminiscent of Italy and The Great Northern Catskills.  Every treasure at the Villa has a story.

As a working family owned and operated resort with four generations of experience and customer service, we take pride in providing a personal experience for everyone of our guests.  This vacation destination is not just a business; it is our home.  It is all about a circle of family and friends working together and loving what we do.  The family continues to do its utmost to welcome you, our guests, to your home away from home.  Whatever the season ~ we wish you precious memories with every visit to the Villa Vosilla.  As our historical World's Fair Lights welcome you ~ You know you have arrived.
